I’ve been selling for over 10 years now so needless to say I’ve been in several reseller Facebook groups, followed fellow resellers on Instagram and a common theme I’ve seen throughout the years is questioning the use of social media to market items. I don’t know if it’s just because I’ve been doing this so long that contemplating such an obvious question doesn’t make sense to me, free advertising is a no brainer, right?!

Twitter

The number of US Twitter users alone is nearly 69.3 million as of January 2021 (DataReportal, 2021) and Pinterest has 478 million monthly active users (Pinterest, 2021) and is currently ranked as the 14th most popular social media platform in the world (Source: The Global State of Digital 2021) Last but not least Facebook has 2.80 billion monthly active users (Facebook, 2021). If that number doesn’t blow you away, it also has 1.84 billion users that are visiting the social networking site on a daily basis. This means that users were visiting at least one of Facebook’s core products – which includes Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger. The potential reach is unimaginable and like I previously said for the most part it’s free! Besides the time spent creating the post & either scheduling or posting which in my opinion outweighs the benefits. As a full time reseller not using social media consistently to get eyes on my items is not an option. I do pay for some services but it can be done without.

Pinterest

My strategy is pretty basic, once the listing is completed I will then schedule for the item to be shared either by A.) pinning or B.) Tweeting I find that the chrome extensions for both Pinterest and Twitter are a timesaver but you can share your items directly from apps if you’re not on a desktop. See below.

2 simple steps to share your listings from the eBay & Posh apps.

Scheduling through Pinterest itself is free but I use Tailwind because I like all the option they provide but if you are just starting out its not necessary but here is my affiliate link for $15 off https://www.tailwindapp.com/i/premierfinds If you plan on growing your resale business Tailwind is something to consider, I love there communities and their “create” tool is by far the best and easiest I’ve used.

As for Twitter I use Promote Pictures, it also creates a collage with the pictures in your listing whether its from Poshmark or eBay or any other site. I don’t have an affiliate link for that site but here is the link: https://www.promotepictures.com its amazing, I’ve been using them for over 5 years now.

Facebook

As far as Facebook is concerned my strategy there is completely different. I use Facebook Marketplace to sell both shipping & locally. I like not having to step away from larger items and this is the perfect avenue. But the social media marketing options are vast compared to other sites. I have a Facebook business page, I use meta suite to manage that and Instagram as well. But my favorite by far is Facebook groups and the eBay pages. Did you know that’s eBay allows you to post your own listings on THEIR page?! That’s huge in my opinion. From what I understand you can post up to 5 listings on their pages, ebay, ebay Canada, ebay UK… etc… and they have millions of followers. There are also many ebay groups dedicated to sharing listings. The ebay algorithm likes views and facebook groups is great, easy and free way to get them.

Getting started is easy and free and many if not ALL of you already have these accounts ready to use, now is the time to create a strategy and post consistently!
